Can the Jot work without the disc attached to the tip?

Hi,

I have done some research over the internet and found that the Jot would be the best fine tipped Stylus to use on capacitive screens. I wonder, however, if the disc has to be attached to the tip to work?

I worry that the disc may make such a lot of clicking sounds while taking down lecture notes that it would be impossible for me to use it during a lecture.

The simple answer is that the stylus will not work without the disc, due to the limitations of capacitive touch screen technology. Capacitive touch screens require a stylus with a conductive surface, and pressure over a minimum surface area, in order to register a touch. The disc provides the minimum surface area; remove the disc, and the touch will not be detected. Our latest discs do reduce the clicking sound significantly in comparison to the earlier discs.
