I received my writer plus a few days ago for the new ipad. I used it until yesterday and it worked perfectly fine until the power turned off. I didn't think much and thought that it was time to plug in my keyboard to charge. I charged my keyboard last night and I just got to work and the keyboard still will not turn on. I tried turning it off and on again but it still doesnt work.

Please help

I am not sure if this will help, but I was having the very same problems. Everything has worked fine until I tried to charge it fully after the initial charge. It would not turn on and would not connect. When I charged the unit, the ON/OFF switch was set to ON. This did not work. I tried switching the ON/OFF switch to OFF and then charging it and I am typing this very entry on it! The little indicator light is unpredictable but other than that, everything works great. I didn't even have to re-connect the bluetooth (or deal with customer service) Good luck!

I had a similar issue. My light was still green and turned on when I opened the iPad. It would turn green when I pressed any keys on the keyboard but my iPad wasn't recognizing it. I didn't think it needed to be charged but I plugged it in anyways. Still nothing. Then I toggled the On/Off switch underneath. Still nothing. Then I restarted my iPad. This seems to have fixed the issue. I sounds like everyone else is having hardware issues. Might want to look into that warranty :o\

My Writer Plus (for new iPad) problems continue:

As you suggested, I returned the first WP with a keyboard the did not work or pair, even when fully charged, to the seller, eCost. Thinking that I would be more likely to get a unit that did not suffer this supposedly early production problem, I ordered one directly from your website (at full price) on 7/19/2012 (order number below)
I received it today, set it up and excitedly held down the button (after switch the rear side switch to 'on'). waited 4 seconds…no blinking light, waited up to 30 seconds, no blinking light. Only when I replugged it into USB and charged for an hour would the light blink…..RED. Under those conditions I could pair it with the iPad, but it immediately unpaired as soon as the USB was disconnected. Not very practical I think. So I tried to charge it longer. 3 hours. Tested. Same thing, light blinked red after 4 seconds, paired, but only while still plugged in. As soon as unplugged, unpaired and dead as the proverbial doornail. Or doorstop cause that's what I got. Plus, when I put my iPad, gently, I swear, into the frame the frame fell apart at the ADONIT plaque juncture and could barely be put together (I think duct tape would spoil the look and function, don't you?.
Now I really like the unit, but its only theoretical thus far. I will give Adonit one more chance, because I do like your Jot line. Please send me a new unit and a return label for free shipping return. Please also certify that someone there unboxed the new unit and tested it before it left your hands, including battery, green light, pairing when unplugged from USB, and frame integrity. I think I'm entitled for my trouble, for you to send me this overnight, even before I get the return label and send the bad one back to you, at the very least. I will send the old one out as soon as I can this week after I get the new unit.
Please let me know what you can do to turn me from a twice dissatisfied customer with a big mouth to a satisfied one, big mouth still intact.
Best

We have actually been responding; everyone here was responded to. Just because there isn't a post here doesn't mean we haven't responded. When we respond we contact people through our ticketing system so there is a record of our correspondence and it is entered in our system for future reference. In fact you can see there are a couple of posts from Dee indicating that we had resolved customer issues, and Carolyn added her own experience.

An initial batch of Writers did have a fault. We did recall them from our distributors, but unfortunately a significant number of them were sold before the recall. I can see your ticket in our system. Yours is actually not one of these Writers, yours is the Writer Plus for iPad 2.

Wish I had read these comments prior to ordering. Having the same problem and disturbed Adonit is not responding. I have been happy with my original writer ( although I did have to return for a key problem). Just sent out an email this morning. hope they are responsive. Wonder if there should be a recall?

I sent mine in for repair, and have received a new one. It took a bit longer than I had expected. I have not had to recharge the new Writer, yet. When I do, I will post. Adonit has been surprisingly generous and responsive to e-mail requests from me, in the past. They recently moved to Austin. It is possible that some of the difficulties people have had with ccustomer service have to do with the move occurring at the same time as the changes being made for the new iPad Writer, etc. Moving is tough, no matter how well designed the transition. They may be experiencing some growing pains. I am happy for Adonit's success, and I know that they care about their products and their customers. I do wish that I could reach a person by phone. Waiting for an email response can be frustrating. I have the earlier version, a Writer 2, also, as well as a couple of Jots. The new Writer for my iPad 3rd generation is a terrific tool. I am proud of it, and recommend to others, though now I have to mention that mine arrived flawed. I am grateful for the replacement, but will be embarrassed if my friends, who bought their Writers because of my opinion, encounter problems. I am hopeful that the repair/rplacement process will become smoother, for all.

Evan,

From our correspondence yesterday, I think we came to a reasonable solution to assist you with your replacement while you are in Taipei on business.   AS agreed, we will send a courier service to your hotel/residence to pick up your defective writer, our engineers will test it out and when all is in order, we will send a courier to you with your replacement.

Jeff,

I trust and hope that all is in order with your replacement.  FYI after further investigation your return was lost in the post (it either never reached our offices OR it was delivered to an incorrect address within the same office complex) and that explains your further delay.  As I mentioned to you in our correspondence it was never logged into our registry as received.   Many people should be aware that there are quite a few customers who request to return or exchange their product but they never do so and therefore they are classified as "abandoned" until we are otherwise notified by the customer.  Thankfully your tracking number acts as insurance and we were able to process your replacement right away.

Nearly 4 weeks*

I'm giving Adonit the benefit of the doubt here, although I've been without my writer for nearly three weeks and it was originally delayed in shipping, after I had paid in full, for TWO WEEKS! That's two strikes already! One way to ensure customer satisfaction would be to ship out the new keyboard IMMEDIATELY in a box with a paid return shipping label for the non-working keyboard. By taking the customer's credit card information, they could charge the customer within two weeks and no receipt of the non-working keyboard. That's customer service 101 right there. If I have one more issue, I will no longer recommend adonit to others. Their only saving grace is that it truly is the best keyboard case on the market right now. Still, that doesn't matter when I purchased my writer over two months ago but have only been able to use it for three weeks!

I am encountering the same issue.  Now I am having this useless keyboard with me on my business trip oversea.  With my normal work load, I have to deal with their poor customer services back and forth.  I should have bought a keyboard from other comppany from the beginning.  I will not purchase from them again.

Yeah.. I just opened mine.. Tried charging it, no light was on.. I assumed it was done charging, and it didn't work from the very start.. Very disappointing.

I contacted Adonit via email and they had me send mine back for a replacement.  I got my replacement last week and so far so good.  They also refunded my shipping cost.  Be sure you keep all of your original packing and receipts but it seems as though they are willing to correct the problem.

Same thing here.  Got it awhile ago, worked fine until the first charge after the initial charge, now the keyboard seems to be completely unresponsive.  Help?

Me,too. I tried to reconnect this morning, after charging through the night. Now, I am searching my home, for the hard copy and for links on the internet for the instruction manual, with no luck. HELP!!!

Having the same issue with my Writer for the new iPad. The keyboard is dead, and will not recharge. I've tried the micro-USB that came with the keyboard as well as another micro-USB that is confirmed working to no avail.

The same thing just happened to me. I have had my Writer (for the new iPad) about two weeks. Yesterday I decided to charge it for the first time since the initial charge when I first received it. Ironically, this happened just after I sent in a glowing response to the survey Adoint sent me. I charged it using an Apple charger unit, which is what I did initially. So now what?
