The battery door on the Writer does not perfectly align with the opening. It's designed like the battery door cover to the Apple Wireless Keyboard (the one where you have to use a quarter and then twist in order to open the cover). However, it doesn't twist completely and isn't secure - so there's a tendency for the door to fall out... Has anyone else faced this problem? Should I ask for a replacement? Thanks in advance!

Hello
I cannot get the door to my battery cover open. I have followed these instructions and have had no luck at all. The outer casing which holds the battery door now appears to be cracking as well.
Inserting batteries should not be this hard!

You aren't the only one. I have the same problem with my battery door and ended up losing the door. It cost almost $12 to receive a replacement from Adonit and the replacement door isn't any better. I am going to use tape in hopes of preventing it from falling out again and it's pretty doubtful I will be purchasing another Adonit product...
How on earth do you get the battery door off with no abtteries inside to apply pressure from the inside outwards? The design is really not great and if I had known it would be such a hassle to replace batteries, I would never have been so much money for the Adonit.
Hello!
The cap should fit flush once closed, and be snug and not spin or come loose on its own. You do not need to use substantial force to twist open if you have properly pushed the cap in prior to turning.
Below I have listed the steps for operating the battery cap.
1. Hold the keyboard vertically, so the battery chamber is open at the top, and position the cap on top. It can take a little adjustment to get it to set right.
2. Use a coin (smaller, like a penny or dime).
3. Push the lid in before twisting, so its surface is lower than the outer ring of the battery chamber
4. Twist clockwise to close, counter clockwise to open.
5. Tilt the Writer over slightly to have the lid pop out, if open.
